Acupuncture
Acupuncture is safe, drug free, proven extremely effective and has no side effects if performed by a trained professional. This ancient healing art has become a very important part of the alternative healthcare system.
Acupuncture is used with conditions such as:
Addictions
Other less obvious conditions that respond favorably to acupuncture are asthma, digestive problems, emotional troubles, insomnia, weight control (by decreasing the appetite and increasing metabolism), and elimination of addictions to nicotine, alcohol and even harder drugs. Some modern-day ailments that do not respond to Western medical therapy but show promising outcomes under acupuncture therapy include chronic fatigue syndrome.
How Acupuncture Works
The ancient Chinese art of healing has become popular throughout the world, particularly during the past few decades. It is simple, safe, free from the side effects of Western drug therapy, effective and cost-effective.Acupuncture treats and prevents disease by affecting certain key points on the body through needles. More than 300 of these points have been identified, with more being discovered over time.
The most widely known and understood aspect of acupuncture by Western medical thinking is its pain killing or analgesic effects. This aspect has been studied by the Cadillac of scientific research methods - the double blind randomized control trial. |
Physiologists have discovered that certain points when stimulated by needles cause the brain to release endorphins.
A more traditional explanation of acupuncture is that the body contains vital energy or qi (pronounced Chee) which, when flowing smoothly over channels or meridians that run throughout the body, is expressed overtly as health. Each of the 14 meridians pertains to a particular organ, such as the stomach, heart or large intestines. When the qi energy is stagnant or blocked int he meridians, or when there is an imbalance in the yin (female) and yang (male) forms of energy, then symptoms of ill health or disease are expressed. Acupuncture clears up the blocked energy and re-balances the yin and yang to restore health. |
